Together, in 1972, Dick and Cal began one of the most ambitious vineyard plantings of its time in the Dundee Hills, reaching more than 50 acres within just the first three years. The two shared a vision for the incredible potential of this emerging Oregon wine region.
Their collaboration eventually led to the founding of Knudsen Erath Winery, the first winery in the Dundee Hills. Their pioneering work helped establish a foundation for the region’s future and contributed to the growth of Oregon’s now internationally recognized wine industry.
