Drink Wine = Plant Trees
April 22 (Earth Day) through April 30 (Arbor Day)
Knudsen Vineyards is helping to make the world greener and healthier this April. With the Drink Wine = Plant Trees campaign, Knudsen Vineyards will donate $1 to the Arbor Day Foundation for every reservation made at The Outlook from April 22–30, Earth Day through Arbor Day.
The Arbor Day Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to planting trees around the world. For every dollar donated, the organization can plant one tree in a forest of high need.
Sustainable Vineyard Practices
Our sustainable vineyard practices encourage biodiversity, improve soil health, support native wildlife, and help preserve the land for generations to come. We view the vineyard as part of a larger ecosystem, and our farming decisions are made with that long-term responsibility in mind.
Intentional landscaping around The Outlook includes a variety of native flora that creates habitat for birds, pollinators, insects, and other wildlife.
Between the vineyard rows, carefully selected cover crops help reduce soil erosion, promote soil fertility and quality, manage pests and disease, and create productive habitat for wildlife. These cover crops can also reduce, and in some cases eliminate, the need for herbicides.
As a LIVE Certified Sustainable vineyard, Knudsen Vineyards follows rigorous environmental and social standards for grape growing and winemaking. Maintaining LIVE Certification requires meeting numerous benchmarks designed to support responsible farming and long-term vineyard health.
Water Quality & Salmon-Safe Certification
Knudsen Vineyards is Salmon-Safe Certified, helping protect water quality, maintain watershed health, and restore habitat for aquatic species. Vineyard practices that support waterway protection include erosion prevention, reducing runoff, and encouraging native biodiversity.
Knudsen Vineyard comprises two slopes, at the junction of which is a small creek that ultimately drains into the Willamette River. One way we protect this watershed is by maintaining vegetation along the creek, which promotes bank stabilization and helps regulate water temperatures.
