2018 JLK CHARDONNAY
With a nearly ideal vintage and the celebration of 50 years in the Dundee Hills, we dedicate this micro-bottling of Chardonnay to our beloved mother, Julia Lee. Sourced entirely from her namesake block on the southern slope of our vineyard, these nearly 30 year old vines were our inspiration for this commemorative inaugural bottling.
Beginning with a beautiful golden straw color, aromas of honey, butterscotch and pineapple erupt from the glass. Bright acidity and citrus tingle the palate with a perfectly balanced mouth coating nuttiness and lemon cream. Hints of Crème brûlée lead to a lasting and full-bodied finish. Enjoy now through 2030.

2018 CCK PINOT NOIR
From 90 planted acres of Pinot noir, our family tasted and mindfully selected the three blocks that went into this commemorative inaugural micro-bottling to dedicate to our father, Cal Knudsen. An avid connoisseur of Burgundy and sparkling wines, we chose these blocks to showcase our most premium level Pinot noir vines, ranging in age from 15-20 years. The thoughtful blend of three clones, 667, 777 and Pommard, provide robust texture, stunning charisma and long-term cellaring potential. Dad, this one’s for you!
A powerful dance of elegance and brawn, this Pinot noir requires some patience while in its youthful years. Herbaceous aromas of clove and rose hip set the tone for structural tobacco and earth undertones. Flavors of fresh pomegranate and red raspberry are interspersed throughout as hints of baking spice and firm tannins round out the palate for a long and memorable finish. Enjoy this Pinot noir after decanting for at least a half hour, or let these flavors integrate in the bottle for the next 10+ years.

The 2018 growing season was nearly ideal. The spring was relatively mild, the summer was hot and dry and then it cooled a bit the second half of August and into September. Harvest commenced in early September and lasted through the end of the month, a relatively long harvest season. The yield was lower than last year while quality was consistently high. Also, because of the cooler late growing season, the grapes had considerable hangtime to achieve optimal physiological ripeness before picking.
